Harvard junior center Kenyatta Smith, who played in his first game of the season Sunday at Dartmouth, broke a bone in his right foot during practice the following day and will be out for the rest of the season, the school announced Friday.
Smith, who sat out the team’s first 17 games with an injury to the same foot, played just two minutes in Sunday’s game.
Last season, Smith averaged 5.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game for the Ivy League champions. Smith recorded 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks in the Crimson’s upset of third-seeded New Mexico in the NCAA tournament.

Harvard sophomore Kenyatta Smith, who recorded 16 blocks in the Crimson’s weekend sweep of Penn and Princeton at Lavietes Pavilion, was named Ivy League Player of the Week on Monday.
Smith, a 6-foot-8 center from Sun Valley, Calif., had a school-record 10 blocks in Friday’s 73-54 rout of Penn, helping the Crimson set a team record with 15 blocks in the game. He also contributed 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting and narrowly missed a triple-double with nine rebounds.
On Saturday, in a 69-57 victory over Princeton, Smith had a perfect shooting night (5-for-5 from the field, 4-for-4 from the line) for 14 points, and he added seven rebounds and six blocks.
League-leading Harvard (15-7, 7-1) next visits Brown on Friday and Yale on Saturday.
