Olivier Hanlan nets 22, but BC can’t keep pace with Carolina

James Michael McAdoo had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead North Carolina past Boston College, 82-70, Tuesday night at Conte Forum.
Olivier Hanlan scored 22 points and Ryan Anderson netted 16 for BC (9-11, 1-6 ACC).
Dexter Strickland and P.J. Hairston added 14 points apiece for UNC (14-6, 4-3).
BC had an 8-2 lead just over four minutes into the game, but the Tar Heels then embarked on a 19-4 run to take control. The UNC lead was 15 at the half, 48-33. The lead peaked at 18 after a dunk by McAdoo with 13:21 remaining. BC then began to chip away, but the Eagles could get no closer than 10.
The game was delayed with 4:02 left in the first half when Hairston collided with Strickland under the basket while the UNC teammates were trying to defend a drive by Patrick Heckmann (12 points). Hairston, Carolina’s second-leading scorer this season, had to be take off the court on a stretcher after suffering a concussion. Hairston left after having scored 14 points, hitting 4-of-4 3-pointers. He made an appearance on the bench for part of the second half.
BC next hosts Clemson on Saturday at noon.
