BC’s Olivier Hanlan, Harvard’s Siyani Chambers win conference rookie of week honors

One week after backcourt mate Joe Rahon was named ACC Rookie of the Week, Boston College guard Olivier Hanlan received the same honor on Monday.
Playing in his first two ACC road games– a win over Virginia Tech and a loss to Wake Forest — Hanlan averaged 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals last week.
The Quebec product has scored in double figures in eight straight games and 11 of 12. He leads ACC freshman with 13.4 points per game (15th overall).
In the Ivy League, freshman guard Siyani Chambers was named Rookie of the week for the second week in a row and third time this season. Chambers had 22 points and six assists as the Crimson opened defense of their Ivy League title with a 75-65 victory over Dartmouth on Saturday in Hanover, N.H. Chambers leads the league with 6.0 assists per game and is second in 3-point percentage (50.0). He’s seventh in points (13.3) and minutes (37.4) per game.
Harvard sophomore Wesley Saunders was named the league’s co-Player of the Week for his 19-point, six-assist effort vs. the Big Green. Saunders hit 8-of-9 shots in helping Harvard rally for the win. Saunders leads the league with 16.4 points and 2.0 steals per game, and he’s fourth in shooting percentage (54.4). He has scored in double figures in all 14 games this season.
