Ryan Anderson named to ACC All-Freshman team

Boston College forward Ryan Anderson was a unanimous selection to the ACC All-Freshman team, the league announced Monday.

Anderson and Duke standout Austin Rivers were the only two unanimous selections. They are joined on the team by Virginia Tech’s Dorian Finney-Smith, Miami’s Shane Larkin and Maryland’s Nick Faust.

Anderson is averaging 10.8 points and 7.2 rebounds a game. He ranks first among freshmen in the ACC and seventh overall in the league in rebounding. The Lakewood, Calif., product has six double-doubles on the season.

BC, seeded 12th for the ACC tournament, plays fifth-seeded NC State Thursday at 2 p.m.
