BC’s Ifeanyi Momah loses appeal for another season

Wide receiver Ifeanyi Momah will not return to the Boston College football team after the NCAA denied the school’s appeal for a sixth year of eligibility.

‘€œThis is very disappointing news,’€ coach Frank Spaziani said in a press release. ‘€œWe only want what is best for Ifeanyi, and I felt a sixth year would have benefited him greatly after missing two full seasons with injuries. He is a great young man who will leave Boston College with a degree in hand. We are very grateful for his contributions to our football program, on and off the field, and we hope he is able to continue pursuing his dreams.’€

Momah suffered a left knee injury in the first game of the 2011 season. The ACC approved a medical hardship waiver in December for Momah, who missed the 2009 season.
