Boston College special teams coach Mike Dawson announced that he will leave the team effective Jan. 1 and will pursue opportunities outside of football, according to a release from the school.
“Mike Dawson has been a valuable member of our staff for the past three seasons,” coach Frank Spaziani said in the statement. “We wish him nothing but the best as he heads down a new career path. I’m certain he will be a success wherever his career path leads him.”
Dawson, who played linebacker and defensive end at UMass in the mid-1990s, was with BC for three seasons. He had 11 previous seasons of experience, including stops at Akron, New Hampshire, UMass-Lowell, Maine and Pittsburgh.
